Become a cat sitter

Cat owners need someone to look in on their cat while they are away — usually short visits at the cat's own home, sometimes a few days staying there. You decide which jobs you take, when, and what they cost.

    What you need

    • You travel to the cat

Most cat sitting happens at the cat's home: food, water, the tray and some company, usually once a day. You need to be able to get there.

    • Keys and routines

You get keys and a routine to follow. Go through it all in chat before the owner leaves, and agree what happens if something comes up.

    • Got pets of your own?

It rarely matters when you go to the cat. It counts for more if you take cats in — cats are territorial and seldom want to share space with another's.

    • Noticing when something is wrong

Cats hide being unwell. Spotting untouched food or an unused tray is often the most valuable thing you do, and the whole reason owners pay for visits.

    Payment, reviews and other animals

How you get paid, how reviews build up and what applies to dogs, small pets and horses are all covered on our pet sitter page.

Questions about becoming a cat sitter

    What do I get paid?

You set your own price. The median for a cat drop-in visit on Woof is 120 kr, and you keep 102 kr after the 15% fee. Many charge more for several cats or longer visits.

    Where does the sitting happen?

Usually at the cat's home. You can also take cats in, but most owners would rather their cat stayed in its own surroundings.

How often do I need to go?

One visit a day is enough for most adult cats. The owner says what their cat needs, and you agree it before the booking.

Do I need experience with cats?

No formal requirements. Say in your profile what you are used to — your own cat, other people's, medication, older cats. That is what owners read.

    How soon can I start?

The profile takes about ten minutes. After that you are visible to cat owners near you and can get requests straight away.
